John L. Beath, national award-winning Northwest outdoor writer, photographer and speaker is an avid angler and outdoorsmen. His articles, photos and seminars focus on how-to &; where-to-go enjoy the great outdoors throughout the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and Alaska. Beath also does public relations &; consulting work for lodges and businesses.

Beath moved from Boise Idaho to the Seattle area with his family at the age of eight. Since then, he has made the outdoors and fishing a lifestyle and career. He has been a freelance saltwater columnist and B.C. correspondent for F &; H News, and traveled extensively throughout Washington, B.C., and Alaska. He is also the Northwest Editor for Western Outdoors, Cruising Fishermen Columnist for Nor'Westing, Outdoors Columnist for the Monroe Monitor/Valley News, co-publisher of The Fishing Journal and editor John L. Beath's Sportsman Show Internet Magazine.

As host of the popular Northwest Sportsman Show, aired every Saturday morning from 5 to 7 am on Talk Radio 570 AM in Seattle, Hot Talk 1080 KOTK in Portland, Beath takes listeners into all aspects of the outdoors for two hours of talk radio and entertainment.

His articles have appeared in B.C. Sport Fishing, Saltwater Sportsman, Sport Fishing, Western Outdoors, Washington/Oregon Game & Fish, California Game & Fish, Navigator, STS, Northwest Fishing Holes, The Outdoor Press, Falcon, The Everett Herald and The Reel News to name just a few.

Beath's photos are widely published, regionally and nationally, and include over 100 magazine covers. Thousands of anglers have attended his seminars at the International Boat Show, Washington State Sportsmen Show and others.

Memberships: Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) and Northwest Outdoor Writers Association (NOWA), and winner of the organization's 1989,'90,'92, '94, '95 & '96 Excellence in Craft Awards for humor, magazine articles, photos & two awards for his radio program. His outdoor sports column won first place in the 1991 Washington Newspaper Publishers Better Newspaper contest and third place in NOWA's '95 competition. His magazine column won first place in 1994. In 1995 & '96 he received several awards from OWAA including a first place photo award sponsored by Nikon, and a second place saltwater magazine article for his work in Western Outdoors. In 1997 OWAA awarded Beath 6 National awards, including First Place in the magazine category for an outdoor technical subject. He is a member of the International Game Fish Association, and former IGFA All-tackle world record holder Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame record holder.

He has been a new products consultant and field tester for several companies including; Garmin Electronics, Buzz Bombs/Zziners, Pt. Wilson Darts, Dick Nite Spoons, Luhr Jensen, Silver Horde/Gold Star Tackle and Helly Hansen active wear. John has taught fishing through several Community School programs. He also holds a Masters USCG Motor Vessel Operator license which helps him with his fishing/boating instruction duties at the Seattle Yachting School.

Beath's experience on the saltwater has earned him thousands of dollars in salmon and bottomfish derbies. In addition to winning several derbies, he was awarded $1,000 bonus money by Yamaha Outboard Motor Company in 1989.

John, his wife Lois, and children, Chris and Sheri, live in Monroe Washington.
